Questions To Ask A Potential Photographer Before Booking!!

When you look at your wedding day. What comes to mind? Are you stressed with making the day as perfect as possible? Maybe you are even nervous about your photographer and capturing the perfect photos because if we are being honest, this could arguably be on the most important days of your life. So if booking a wedding photographer who fits your look and aesthetic, then here are a few questions to ask before booking a photographer for your wedding. Ideally, you want to find a photographer that you click with, and makes everyone feel comfortable, because you will be spending A LOT of time with them. But to get there, you must be thorough. So are you are searching and scanning the internet for photographers, here are some of the most important things to ask before booking:

1. Do they have an emergency policy? Anyone who has done this for a while knows that you need to have a plan in place in case something happens. Especially in this day in age with COVID-19 still present! Make sure you are covered and that a photographer WILL BE PRESENT at your wedding, even if something happens to your main person.

2. What are they doing to protect your images? This might seem mondain to some or even gibberish to others, but you need to ask! Do they back up? Are they shooting on multiple cards? Are they treating the files with respect? All in all, you need to be ensuring that your photos will not be lost.

3. How long will you have to wait before your photos are delivered? There is no right or wrong answer here as every photographer is different and no schedule is the same! Each photographer should have a delivery time. Make sure this is written in your contract and you’ll have nothing to worry about. Especially if they get delivered early ;)… BUT with that, try not to nag your photographer during the weeks following your wedding – they haven’t forgotten, trust me!

4. What are you getting with the package you chose? Make sure that you’re purchasing your images and download rights, not just print access! Ask them if the engagement session is included or if that is an additional cost!!

5. Can you expect sneak previews following your wedding day? I get the desire for instant gratification when it comes to photos! Check and see if they offer any sneak previews before your gallery is delivered! Honestly, this is an ever-growing list but these are a few good questions to ask! If I can leave you with one thing: the last place you should scrimp and save is on your wedding photographer. The photos you take on your wedding day will last a LIFETIME – and even beyond. These are photos that your children, grandchildren, and family will showcase at their weddings and at other events. These are probably the only photos that will hang on your wall for the rest of your life. Maybe these are photos that will be uploaded on to those ancestry websites. So please let them be good ones and always choose your photographer carefully.
